"What strikes me about this album is the atmosphere it evokes. From the opening train journey chugging down the rugged West Coast that we find in "War Over Water", to the thoughtfully quirky lullaby in "The Hunt", down the dusty backroads of "Giving Up Is My New Morning Sun", and the bourbon-soaked ramblings of "Thingy" (I bet my money on a two-bit horse; it broke my heart around the course; and after the race, we shot him of course; and fed 'em to the dawgs), this is an album that will take you places. Above all, it's got that curious appeal that makes the Phoenix Foundation so engaging. Take a trip on this."
