David Curtis was born and raised in Wellington and at the age of thirteen, recorded the single Wheel Of Fortune that became an immediate hit in 1970, selling platinum and reaching Number Five on the New Zealand National Chart.David went on to record a second album that included the Number Three hit Take Your Leave, winner of the 1971 song-writing section of Studio One and winner of a major prize in the Yamaha World Popular Song Contest in Tokyo. The Very Best of David Curtis features a unique recording of Just A Closer Walk With Thee - originally recorded in 1971, Just A Closer Walk With Thee has been specially re-recorded in 2003 with David, with his now adult voice, performing a duet with himself aged 13.
