After her groundbreaking and esoteric "Shrouded in the Mist" CD, which revisited the Maori oral history through lyrics dating back to the 1900s and before, it was always going to be interesting to see what Whirimako could come up with next. It couldn't have been easy to follow such an impressive release as the aforementioned title, but she has, and with the same unique style that made her previous album so endearing.
Whirimako has taken another direction on "Hohou Te Rongo", and focused on the last decade of new compositions. Along the way, Whirmako is joined by some of the finest musicians in Maoridom today - Dave Hiaqkita, Tama and Whetu Renata, Darren Ormsby, Leyton Greening, Nick Nahi and from the Pacific Kim Halliday.
