Eva Prowse is turning heads with her striking voice and original songs in New Zealand's flourishing alt-country music scene. She is a talented young country singer and musician who started playing around the music clubs in Wellington while she was studying at Victoria University. She has performed live on TV One and National Radio. Her first EP Five Songs is co-produced with her guitarist/songwriter father Chris Prowse. As well as country, blues and hip hop, Eva's other musical interest is classical music. She is the Artistic Assistant for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Five Songs is an EP that pays tribute to some of Eva and Chris Prowse’s influences while establishing a musical signature of their own. They offer fresh country-pop arrangements of songs by writers as diverse as Little Feat's Lowell George and New Zealand's own Bic Runga. They delve into the blues in a moody treatment of a Little Milton tune, and present a pair of striking Chris Prowse originals - the upbeat, bluegrass-y I'll Fly For Your Love and emotive,Irish-inflected Leaving Carrickfergus. 1.
