He has since exhibited in New York,Tokyo, Sydney, London, Dubai as well as around New Zealand in dealer galleries. He also co-founded the jazz ensemble The Nairobi Trio. Recent Works is the product of a period of a week spent at Roundhead Studios in Auckland. “This is improvised music, mostly all first takes, no overdubs.”(Graham Reid) There are elements of both jazz and gypsy music with melodies spread across both violin and guitar. There is a contagious flow throughout the tracks, each track linked with the last. Featured on tracks 3 and 11 is well renowned Auckland composer and long-time collaborator Jonathan Besser on piano. “From the vigorous, challenging and ever evolving eight minute opener Sacred Hill through to the hypnotically atmospheric closer Wellington Harbour… this is an album of pure magic born of that instant between thought and expression… Richard Adams and Nigel Gavin have produced an album of music of such diversity yet coherence, to play at the top of their game but still leave room for the other, to be a master of an instrument yet let it have its own voice.” (Graham Reid)
