2010 debut album from rockin duo - samples at http://www.myspace.com/devilselbowofficial
Devils Elbow are based in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand and consists of core members Alec Withers (ex-Tempo 38) on vocals/guitar, and Andrew Gladstone (ex-Garageland) on drums/vocals. The band plays live as a duo and in various other formations including bass players, acoustic sets and featuring various 'guests'.
'This raw, sometimes wilfully ragged and largely terrific duo of Alec Withers (vocals, guitars) and drummer-singer Andrew Gladstone (formerly in Garageland) -and a couple of friends in places- deliver up hook-filled alt.country rock which owes a nod to Joe Strummer as much as Steve Earle, and they also possesses that free-wheeling spirit which made the Replacements so special.' -Graham Reid
The band's first single, KO, released earlier this year, has received extensive radio airplay throughout New Zealand. The single release coincided with the band being invited to tour New Zealand with Punk rock legend, Grant Hart (Husker Du) as his opening act and sometime backing band.
