2012 2cd reissue of historic Jazz Concert recorded at the Auckland Town Hall on the 7th August 1950. Originally recorded and issued on 78, this landmark concert was reissued in 1994 on cassette. Unfortunately the transcript was at the wrong speed and this 2012 cd edition is the first time it has been issued to play at the correct speed as recorded! The line-up is the who's who of the New Zealand jazz scene at the time - Crombie Murdoch(Piano), Julian Lee(Alto Sax), Murray Tanner(Trumpet), Mavis Rivers(Vocal), George Cambell(Bass), Denny O'Brien(Drums), Dick Hobday and Mark Kahi(Guitar), Colin Martin(Tenor Sax), Dale Alderton(Trombone), Hughie Gordon(Tin Whistle), Thompson Yandall(Guitar) and Peter Young as compere. The tracks are standards of the time but the playing is progressive. A truly historical landmark document on 2 CDs issued in its original form.
