Soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was born in Gisborne in 1944. She has now both conquered the world of opera and won over a wider public, and this album presents a selection of memorable performances ranging from opera and so-called serious music to a lighter repertoire including folk music and the songs of Broadway & Tin Pan Alley.
