Shapeshifter are a live Drum & Bass act who have gained a strong and loyal following among the public and the music industry.As a production unit, Shapeshifter produces progressive and original tunes flavoured with elements from their live show, and influenced by a range of styles. As a live act, the group continue to live up to their fearsome reputation for storming sets, using live instruments and elements to create a formerly studio and DJ based genre. Shapeshifter built their reputation touring independantly, and alongside such acts as Salmonella Dub, Pitch Black, and King Kapisi, as well as performing at many other low and high profile events. Formed in 1999, the group won the "Best Live Act" award at the 2000 bNet NZ Music awards, and were nominated at the 2001 awards for "Best Live Act" and "Best Electronica Release" for their debut EP "DNA".
